Jesus knew he was going to be captured and crucified. When he told the disciples what would happen to him, one of them named Peter said “no, we will not let that happen, we will fight for you. Jesus said to him “before the rooster crows you will have denied even knowing me three times. Peter says “no, I would never do that”. So Peter does exactly what Jesus told him he would do. He denied to know Jesus three times to the people who had recognized him as a follower of Christ. This is where the skit ties in.
